Lt. Aaron Herskovitz smiles as he sits up in a hospital bed in a body cast with writing on it as Pvt. Goldie Rosenberg grins and rubs a substance from a bottle in her right hand on his back with her left hand. Lt. Irene Schultz, who attended the trans-Atlantic flight that brought him to the hospital, stands to his left with a smile of approval for his care as she helps him sit up. There is a window behind each female soldier. The women are in military uniforms. Lt. Irene Schultz has the 9th Air Force patch on her left shoulder.

Typewritten note attached to the back, "Public Relations Office, 1380th AAF BU, NAD, ATC, Presque Isle, Maine. Lt. Aaron Herskovitz displays a smile of approval as WAC Pvt. Goldie Rosenberg of Rock Island, Ill., gives his back a good rubbing in the Air Evacuation Hospital of the SNOWBALL base in Presque Isle, ME. Lt. Irene Schultz attended Herskovitz and several other evacuees on their trans-Atlantic flight in a C-54 transport plane over the SNOWBALL route from a general hospital in Paris. Inducted into the armed forces on February 9, 1942, Lt. Herskovitz was wounded on the German battlefronts. He is a graduate of the Somerville High School, Mass., and of the Boston University. -30-."
