About

UMKC Libraries' Digital Projects department provides access to digitized materials and born-digital content physically held in LaBudde Special Collections, University Archives and Marr Sound Archives. In our digital collections, we have content by and about people of many races, ethnicities, national origins, beliefs, sexualities, gender identities, and disabilities. Historically, most people have been subject to bias, discrimination, and violence. While that history is reflected in some of our collections, we are making appropriate changes to the type of language we use to describe this content, on an ongoing basis.

Harmful Content Statement

If you encounter harmful or offensive content or language on this site please email us at harmfulcontent@umkc.edu. To learn more read our Harmful Content in Library and Archives Collections Policy.

Copyright Restrictions

Content in this digital repository is intended for a broad research community and is made publicly available whenever possible. In certain cases, access may be restricted due to copyright, licensing, or privacy concerns. The Digital Projects department actively engages in harmful content remediation, and we will proceed with a takedown process should we receive correspondence regarding copyright violations, intellectual property concerns, or privacy requests. If you see an error in our repository, would like to contribute information, or have a concern about content, please contact us: digital.projects@umkc.edu.

Digitization Services

Digital Projects, LaBudde Special Collections, Marr Sound Archives, and University Archives all provide digitization services, including image reproductions and audio duplication. All requests are governed by department policies and fees, applicable copyright laws, and any other restrictions on specific collection materials.

Presentation of Content

UMKC Digital Collections is built upon the Islandora open-source software framework. Islandora combines Drupal (content management system), Fedora (digital asset management architecture), and Solr (enterprise search platform) to provide a comprehensive platform for managing, delivering, and accessing digitized materials. UMKC Digital Collections is maintained in collaboration with the University Missouri Digital Library Working Group, which provides oversight for digital projects among the four campus libraries of the University of Missouri. Development of UMKC Digital Collections is made possible by a grant provided by the Martha Jane Starr Field of Interest Committee. Programming support is provided by Discovery Garden, Inc. and the University of Missouri Library Systems Office.
