Details
Description
Claude "Fiddler" Williams sits at a table on the lower level of the Blue Room in the American Jazz Museum in the 18th and Vine District of Kansas City, Missouri on the left side of the photograph with his wife, Blanche Williams, and smiles up at an unidentified African American woman with her back to the camera, who bends over the table to greet Claude on the occasion of his 93rd birthday celebration. The Blue Room is crowded with every table full. Al Pearson, trumpet, bends toward a man seated in the center of the photograph at a sound board. Two other patrons are standing and bending toward each other to speak on the left side of the photograph. The date, "2 16 '03," is imprinted by the camera on the bottom right-hand corner of the photograph.
