A view of the Lake of Uri and surrounding mountains through the openings in the tunnels on Axenstrasse near Flüelen, Switzerland. The tunnels, guard rails, openings, and supports have a cave-like, hand-hewn look with a dirt road running through the tunnels. Printed in the margins around the photograph, "Paysages Suisses. No. 1045. AXENLOCH an der Axenstrasse. - Les Tunnels, route de l'Axen. Comptoir de Phototypie Neuchâtel."
