A boy sits on the pedestal of the vase on the right side of the opening to the Avenue of Vases. The opening to the avenue is flanked by large, decorative vase sculptures as its portal, looking toward the Summer Palace in the distance in the Great Garden in Dresden, Germany [German Empire]. A horse-drawn carriage is heading away from the photographer down the avenue toward the palace. Embossed in the bottom, left-hand corner, "R-Tamms, Dresden." Printed in white ink on the bottom, left-hand corner of the photograph, "17a; caption: "Dresden, Grosser Garten. Allee mit Vasen."
