Details
A statue of Henry IV in Place Royale in Pau, France. Henry IV extends his right hand, palm up, out to his low right. He turns his head slightly to the right with a smile. With his left hand, he holds the handle of a sword that is in its sheath on his belt. The carving behind him at his feet is of sheaves of wheat and bunches of grapes with a plumed helmet of armor resting on top of the food. The plinth has "Raggi 1842" carved into it. The words carved on the base are, "Lou Nouste Henric. Henrico.Nostro, Pia.Nepotis.Augusti, Munificentia. Redivivo." The base at the ground has the date carved into it of M. DCCC. XLII." An iron fence surrounds the statue with an 'H' in the center of a wreath on each side of the fence. A gazebo in a park is behind the statue. Printed in white ink along the bottom, "4448. Pau. Statue of Henri Iv. L. L."
