A view of the village Bowness-on-Windermere from the bay and across Windermere (lake) in England. A man rows a skiff from the marshes surrounding Bell Isle, whose forested shore is visible on the right side of the photograph, toward Bowness-on-Windermere across the lake. Sailboats in the harbor and the buildings of the village going from the shore up the sides of the surrounding hills are across the top of the photograph. The words "Old English Hotel" are blurred on a sign across a hotel on the shoreline. Printed in white ink on the bottom right-hand corner, "618. Bowness Bay. Windermere. A.P." Embossed on the bottom right-hand corner, "Pettitt's Series -o- Keswick."
