Details
Rydal Mount, the name of this house in the village of Rydal in the Lake District of England. A stairway in the center of the photograph leads from a lawn, between two patches of bushes on either side of the stairway, and up to the house which is two-story on the left two-thirds of the home and two-and-a-half story on the right one-third of the home. There are two picture windows on both the bottom floor and the top floor on the two-story portion. The windows on the top floor are open. The front door is to the right of the stairs with an arched and roofed portico leading to the door. Vines cover this story side of the house with a chimney on the top of the half story dormer. There are three more chimneys beside and behind the half-story that are on the roof of the main part of the house. Tall trees are on either side of the house. Printed below the lower left-hand corner of the photograph in the margin, "Herbert Bell, Ambleside." Printed on the center margin below the photograph, "Rydal Mount." Printed on the bottom left-hand corner of the margin, "Printed in Switzerland."
