Many people stand along the street in front of a wall for the Queen's Hotel in Kandy, Sri Lanka [then Ceylon]. On the extreme left of the photograph, a man stands in the street, stops and turns to look at the camera. He holds a bundle under one arm. A horse and open carriage sit in front of the entrance to the hotel and under a portico. There are two drivers in front and a couple sits in the back. The steps to the entrance are filled with men and women. The first level of the hotel has arched window and doorway openings. The second floor has an covered porch on the left side of the photograph, arched window openings in the center, and square windows on the right side of the photograph. The center part of the hotel is four stories high. There are three signs that say "Queen's Hotel" hanging along the hotel between the first and second floors. On the right side of the photograph, across the street from the hotel, a group of people sit and stand on a set of stairs with a streetlight at the bottom. Printed in white ink in the bottom right-hand corner, "Kandy. No. 565. C A. Co. Ltd."
