Details
A Sri Lankan man stands by the mast of the sail on the framework where the outrigger is attached to the boat in a Sinhalese fishing boat called a Bala Oruwa that sits on the beach in Sri Lanka [then Ceylon]. Another man sits in the stern. On down the beach, two men carry an outrigger toward the water. At the end of the beach, five mean stand facing the camera. A covered wagon with a bowed bonnet sits at the tree line beside the beach. Palm trees line the entire coast. Printed in dark ink on the bottom left-hand corner, "Scowen." Printed in white ink on the bottom left-hand corner, "Singhalese fishing boat. No. 67. C. A. Co. Ceylon."
