Details
Florence Villa in Kandy, Sri Lanka [then Ceylon], was the home of Captain William Francis Dawson. A large tree stands in a circular lawn with a rickshaw parked by the trunk in front of a villa. Round poles support the roof over the porch than runs along the entire front side of the villa and the house. A pole supported portico covers the stairs up to the porch. Open French pane windows are installed all along the front of the villa looking out on the porch. A circular driveway is in front of the villa and around the tree. Palm trees lean toward the villa on the right side of the photograph. Printed in white ink on the lower left-hand corner of the photograph, "Florence Villa, Kandy, No. 193." Printed in white ink on the lower right-hand corner of the photograph, "C. A. Co. Ltd." Embossed in the lower left-hand corner, "Apothecaries Co Ltd, Photographers, Colombo, Ceylon."
