Details
Unidentified men and boys, barefoot and in traditional clothing, look at the camera as they stand on a sidewalk in front of an open-air market with Sinhala ulu roof, and a bullock cart in the street in front of them in Sri Lanka [then Ceylon]. The cart has a bowed bonnet. It is hitched to two oxen. The driver stands between two oxen. Chickens are under the cart. In the market are baskets stacked with produce and piles of mats. Printed on the lower left-hand corner in white, "Stowen."
