A street scene in Maradana, a suburb of Colombo, in Sri Lanka [then Ceylon]. People in traditional clothing walk up and down a dirt lane between two rows of one-story buildings. Two people walking away from the camera, carry baskets balanced across their shoulders. A pulled rickshaw is coming toward the camera down the center of the lane. A wagon with a bowed bonnet is headed the other way down the lane. Trees, including palm trees, are on either side of the lane. Printed in white ink on the left bottom side of the photograph, "C. A. Co. Ltd." Printed in white ink on the right bottom side of the photograph, "Maradana. 25." Embossed on the bottom right-hand corner of the photograph, "Apothecaries Co Ltd, Photographers, Colombo, Ceylon."
