Dowdal Davis and an unidentified African American woman sitting on the steps of a building both looking down, both holding their head with their hand. Dowdal's overcoat collar is turned up. He wears spats and striped trousers. There is the base of an ornate iron light pole with ram heads on each corner behind them on the left. The doorway has an ornate fleur-de-lis pattern in the concrete.
