Details
The Statesmen of Jazz are on stage at the Pine Crest School Performing Arts Center, 2700 St. Andrews Boulevard in Boca Raton, Florida, for the Swing & Jazz Preservation Society of Florida, Inc. at 7:30 p.m. on May 16, 2000. The date, "5 16 '00"," is imprinted on the lower right-hand of the photograph by the camera. Eddie Higgins' back is to the camera as he sits at a piano facing the rest of the band. Claude "Fiddler" Williams stands in front of the curve of the piano looking back toward the band and away from the camera. A man wearing all white, likely David "Fathead" Newman or Earl May, is mostly obscured by Claude. Jerry Dodgion smiles toward the center of the stage as he holds his alto saxophone in a hug. George Masso stands behind Jerry blowing into his trombone. Farthest to the right side of the photograph stands Lou Columbo, bending slightly forward to look toward the center of the stage and band. The back of an audience member's head is visible on the extreme right side of the photograph.
