Patricia Anne Pound and Eddy C. Pound sit on the grass to the right of a doll of an Uncle Remus character, "Tar baby", which is holding two African American folklore character dolls also from Uncle Remus. The children hold live versions of two other Uncle Remus characters, Mud Turtle and Brer Rabbit. The characters that are not live are propped up by a stool with a woven seat.
