Little Orphan Annie's (Mary Alice Smith Gray's) great grandchildren, Marion Ruth Colestock, age 9, and Donald Edwin Colestock, age 6, stand on the banks of Old Brandywine, a creek that runs near the home of the poet, James Whitcomb Riley. Donald wears a straw hat and cutoff overalls. He holds a long stick in his right hand that he has extended into the creek. Marion wears a diamond print puff-sleeved dress and holds a bonnet with both hands. Both of the unsmiling children are barefoot a they stare at the stick in the creek.

Handwritten on back, "Great Grand Children of "Little Orphant Annie" taken on the "Banks of the Old Brandywine." This plate was "NG" so have taken another. James Whitcomb Riley."
