Typewritten on back in Spanish and English, "THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY BUILDING. UN 38689 - The last of the three main structures that make up the U.N. permanent Headquarters -the General Assembly building- is now nearing completion and will be ready for the opening of the seventh session of the Assembly when it convenes, on 14 October. The General Assembly building (left) occupies the most prominent part of the U.N. site area and is the focal point of the Headquarters' composition. Its low, sweeping lines stand in sharp contrast to the 39-story Secretariat building (right) to which it is connected by the Conference area. The concave side walls of the building are faced with English limestone, with panels and trimming in marble matching the narrow ends of the Secretariat building. The south end of the Assembly building, facing a garden and the ornamental fountain on the Secretariat plaza, is in effect a huge recessed window set in a simple marble frame.
