Rockefeller Center's choice for the 1953 Christmas tree, a Norway spruce, is delivered to the lower plaza at the Rockefeller Center that includes the skating rink and the sculpture of Prometheus created by Paul Manship. The tree lies on its side above the skating rink.

Typewritten note attached to back, "#8 Journey's end in front of the RCA Building in Rockefeller Center. Transported to Fort Lee, N.J., on Monday evening, the tree was safely parked overnight, then crossed the George Washington Bridge between dawn and 7:15 a.m., the following morning, Tuesday, December 1. A police escort expedited its movement from the bridge to the Center where it arrived at 7:45 a.m."
