Details
Scaffolding is erected to facilitate decorating of Rockefeller Center's Christmas tree on the lower plaza above the skating pond and the Prometheus statue created by Paul Manship. Two wreaths are hung on either side of the tree on the RCA building behind the tree and garland is strung along all roof lines.

Typewritten note attached to back, "#11 A scaffold, six stories high, is erected around the 1953 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to facilitate the week-long job of decorating the tree by a crew of twenty men. In addition to the 6,500 twinkling lights, 6,000 shimmering aluminum icicles will be hung on the tree, and a battery of colored floodlights installed at the base to bathe the tree in glowing holiday colors at night."
