Typewritten note inserted, "THE AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY. CENTRAL PARK WEST AT 79TH STREET. NEW YORK 24, N.Y. RUTH NORTON, SUPERVISOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS. PHONE: TRafalgar3-1300. EXT. 444, 311, AND 481. RELEASED FOR December 1, 1953 or thereafter. The contrast between day and evening Christmas celebrations in South America is portrayed in this drawing by American Museum of Natural History artist, Paula Hutchinson. On the left Latin American people are seen dancing and promenading in a Mardi Gras atmosphere. The scene is representative of Christmas morning in lands south of the equator. On the right the same people are seen that evening on their way to church. Here the predominantly religious nature of the celebration is depicted. The story of Christmas in South America is being told as a part of the American Museum Hayden Planetarium's annual holiday presentation, "The Star of Bethlehem," being shown during the month of December."
